This we believe

In concert with its S.C. Johnson shareholders, Franck Galland embraces its civic and corporate responsibilities. It conducts business along strict ethical and moral guidelines and it welcomes involvement in local projects which relate to environmental protection and sustainable development:

LaRevueDurable

The first French, popular magazine attending to ecology and sustainable development. The magazine provides a wide coverage of subjects such as domestic energy consumption, the recycling of waste and challenges facing the environment.

Recognising the importance of informing and educating the public, so as to best protect and sustain our precious planet, Franck Galland has sponsored LaRevueDurable since 2002.

Summit Foundation

A Swiss non-profit organisation founded by Laurent Thurnheer in January 2001. Its purpose is to promote respect for the environment and to preserve the natural beauty of the mountains, lake and countryside via awareness and education.

Its mission is to remain pragmatic and propose concrete action. The Foundation believes that raising individual awareness will go a long way to helping the environment achieve sustainable development.

Since 2008, Franck Galland punctually collaborates with Summit Foundation for the organization of its sustainable development projects and several additional actions.

Long-term business growth is predicated upon sustainable development

Sustainability often depends on foresight. Already in 1975, Samuel Johnson, the CEO of S.C. Johnson, decided to remove chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) before official research had determined that CFCs could harm the Earth’s ozone layer.

His actions turned out to be providential when, three years later, the US and Canada banned the use of CFCs in aerosols due to their environmentally damaging effects.

Mr. Johnson was also a founding member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), which acted in a consultancy capacity to leaders participating in the Earth Summit in Rio in 1992.

S.C. Johnson was one of the first companies to join the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) climate Leaders program, a voluntary effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The company has established a baseline for greenhouse gas emissions at top manufacturing facilities worldwide and it sets targets for continuous reduction.

As a founding member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), SC Johnson remains an active participant in the Sustainable Livelihoods workgoup. SC Johnson Chairman, Fisk Johnson, serves as a Council Member of the WBCSD.
